Danny Wood

PIANO

Daniel Wood is a composer of new opera and new chamber music and experimental filmmaker born based in Los Angeles. He attended Whittier College where he studied with Dr. Teresa LeVelle in composition and Dr. Tyler W. Tom in solo piano. There he received the Friends of Music Scholarship among other merit-based scholarships such as the John Greenleaf Whittier Award. During high school he attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a piano major while simultaneously studying at the Colburn School with Dr. Stephen Cook. He performed as a soloist and accompanist in Zipper Hall on numerous occasions as well as the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion as a collaborative pianist. Daniel has also attended Interlochen Academy for the Arts, the Bard Summer Conducting Program with Harold Farberman, the Etchings Festival where he had lessons and master classes with Louis Karchin, Dominique Schafer, John Aylward, and Fabien Levy. More recently Daniel premiered pieces at the Academia dell'arte in Arezzo and the soundScape festival in Maccagno.

After finishing a BFA in composition at California Institute of the Arts with composers Karen Tanaka, Wolfgang von Schweinitz, and most recently Anne LeBaron, Daniel moved to Los Angeles where he teaches and performs.
